Let’s meet the lovely Janna from Lilly & Lace.
Tell us about your business:
At Lilly and Lace we love to create pretty accessories for your little loves. We sell Hair clips, Headbands, Flower Crowns, Jewellery and more for everyday and special occasions.
What inspired you to start your business?
I love a good project. I thought it would be a great idea to start a business combining my love of sewing, business background and creativity, bringing Australia practical, affordable and well made boutique accessories for girls.
Is there an interesting anecdote behind your business name?
It was the idea that fabric, fashion, females and flowers could come together in a name. I also felt that the name Lilly & Lace portrayed a very girly and feminine vibe.
What is the most satisfying part of what you do?
Making something with my hands and my heart and receiving feedback that is truly rewarding.
Have you tried something in business that didnt work as planned, or on the flip side “ worked out better than expected?
At the start I had some pretty boring designs that at the time I planned to launch. Thankfully I didnt because I dont think they would have gone very far! Over time you get good at what you do and you learn loads of skills and gain market knowledge along the way.
What would be your best tip for someone thinking about selling their handcrafted goods?
Do your research and have realistic expectations, but think big and go for your dream!
What is your favourite item you make?
It would have to be the Hugging Leaves Crown. While it is one of the most time consuming items to make, the effect is just stunning and people seem to love the design.
