Today we have the pleasure of meeting Ruth-Mary from Patchwork Family Art …..
Tell us about your business:
I’m Ruth-Mary, the illustrator behind patchwork family art. I strive to create beautiful prints, greeting cards and paper goods to decorate your home and celebrate your family! I am largely influenced by a love of vintage including fabrics and hankies and florals.
What inspired you to start your business?
I have loved creating all my life. Although finding time when my 3 girls were little was difficult. My business was inspired by my love of family mixed with my built in need to create!
Is there an interesting anecdote behind your business name?
The ‘patchwork family ‘ in my name comes from the forming of my family – 3 sweet girls from overseas adoption, natural born and fostering (but almost adopted – yay!)
What is the most satisfying part of what you do?
When I create an artwork that I particularly like that brings a sense of satisfaction, although when others enjoy my work that is wonderful too…
Have you tried something in business that didn’t work as planned, or on the flip side “ worked out better than expected?
I am learning that opportunities arise when you least expect it- I love that about being in my own business.
What would be your best tip for someone thinking about selling their handcrafted goods?
Go with where your heart is and then be persistent.
What is your favourite item you make?
It would be a juggle between my new range of cherubs and my retro prints- particularly my typewriter.
Any personal or business highlights in the last year:

I have 2 beautiful puppies- cockalier sisters
I love a good chai latte.
