Christmas Gift Guide – picks for the man around the house

Christmas/ Gift ideas/ Shopping

Welcome to Day 9 of our Christmas Gift Guide series. Today we have Jessidee Handmade with a great selection of products perfect for the man around the house. “Because lets be honest, we all could do with a little bit of help buying mens gifts!”

Christmas Finds for Dad

1- Mens Bi-fold Wallet from Whiteley Design – Every man needs a beautifully crafted wallet, classic black leather has to be my favourite, but the others in store are just as lovely

2-  Top Hat Skull Baseball Tshirt from Mikes Ink – I absolutely love this vintage top hat print on this shirt. Perfect for the younger man in the family

3- Resin Shark Tooth Pendant from Resinating– A shark tooth necklace, that is made out of resin, so you don’t need to worry about how ethical it is? I think so!

4- Bike Chain Star Keyring from Tread and Pedals – Bike chain is a great, robust, manly product, and this key chain is a fun mix of eclectic materials and manliness

5- Australian Blackwood Pen from Twisted and Turned –  Beautifully hand made pens are difficult to come by, but this one, from Twisted and Turned caught my eye. A perfect gift for the guy in an office job, or who just appreciates something beautiful

Jessidee Handmade is a card and notebook company, that specialises in one of a kind cards, with cute people and animal images, as well as completely customisable journals. The business started with a love of paper, ink and stamps, and quickly grew into what it is today. All my cards are unique, and are only created once, so if there’s something that grabs your eye, let me know

Christmas Gift Guide – monochrome finds for baby

Baby Series/ Christmas/ Gift ideas/ Shopping

Welcome to Day 8 of our Christmas Gift Guide series. Today we have the lovely Lil HipStar with her funky Monochrome discoveries for baby. What a great selection of goodies for the nursery.

Lil HipStar Christmas Finds

1- Fitted Cot Sheet from Pappiyon

2- Star Mobile from Stef Collections

3- Baby Crib Quilt from Alphabet Monkey

4- I love you to the Moon and back Wall Print from Mint Imprint

These products are perfect to complete any modern baby/toddler room.  I love the neutrality of the current trend of the black and white baby scheme making it usable for a boy or girl or even a second child.

Laura launched her label Lil Hipstar in September 2013 as a creative outlet to pursue while caring my my first child Oliver.œWhen Oliver was born I just couldnt find the funky, hip baby blanket that I was looking for. I wanted something a little different. Before having my son Oliver, I was a full time architect. When Oliver was born with a congenial skull condition called craniosynostosis, I knew that returning to the corporate work would probably not be possible with a lot of doctors appointments to attend.” This was a turning point and a great opportunity to have the best of both worlds: caring for Oliver, and designing and creating fun exciting things for other babies that just werent available for us!

Laura chose her business name after considering lists and lists of names, and discussing them with neighbours, friends and family. She chose Lil Hipstar to portray the spirit of Melbourne, the funky little generation of kids. Laura lists her creative inspiration as œa constant passion for wanting to make, create and design. She says, œFor me, designing and making things has been an integral part of my life for as long as I can remember. The next step in Lil HipStars life is to start designing and printing our all of our own fabric designs. I think this will add an extra special touch to our product range.
Laura works with all kinds of fabrics, but œMy favourite colours and style combinations at the moment are geometric black and white. I love the simplicity of monochrome and the gender neutrality.

1- Super hero themed Shirred Dress from Crystal Leigh Creations – Keep cool in the Summer heat with this amazing Super Hero Shirred Dress.  The best thing about this dress?  It can be worn for more than one season! 2- Messenger Bag from Button Hole Designs – Whenever I go out, my children want to take one or 2 small items with them, why not teach them some independence and responsibilility with their own bag?  These messenger bags have adjustable straps and are perfect for a small person to carry their precious things! Buttonhole Designs uses soft denim and lovely fabrics to make bright bags for children.

3- Super Hero themed Shorts  from Jasami Handmade – I simply love the products at Jasami Handmade, and the super hero shorts that Michelle makes are divine.  Not your usual Super Hero Shorts, these are made from denim and use fantastic super hero fabric as accents, perfect for a super hero lover, but super durable for the roughest child to wear too!
